5 Free Adobe XD Tutorials For Learning UI/UX Designers
Adobe’s newest design software is a popular choice for mobile & web projects. While it hasn’t taken out Sketch App for Mac users, Adobe XD has been around long enough to gather interest from the design community.
If you search you’ll find tons of handy resources and design freebies for XD users. But there are also tons of free tutorials out there for anyone who wants to master the software.
I’ve scoured YouTube looking for 5 of the absolute best Adobe XD tutorials I can find. This list is my compilation of my favorites covering a wide variety of design techniques.
1. Getting Started with Adobe XD
There’s no better way to learn Adobe XD than by studying from the Adobe team.
That’s exactly what you’ll find in this one-hour guide covering all the basic features of Adobe XD. It was put on by the Creative Cloud team so you know it’s a trustworthy tutorial for emerging software.
In this 60 minute presentation you’ll get familiar with the workspace, the tools, the palettes and the overall workflow of a designer.
Perfect introduction for someone just getting into XD from stage zero.
2. How to Use Adobe XD
A somewhat shorter intro is this video recorded by designer Terry White.
This shows you how to create prototypes inside Adobe XD and how to design interfaces from scratch. It’s almost like a pragmatic approach to XD for designers by cutting out a lot of the fluff.
However this video isn’t as comprehensive as the Creative Cloud presentation above, so use this in conjunction with that vid to get a solid 90-minute introductory guide to this incredible software.
3. Responsive Layout Grids
Want to pick up some responsive design techniques? Then why not try this video on for size.
It’ll cover the basic workflow that designers follow when crafting responsive layouts in Adobe XD.
There is no single “best” way to design a mockup. But there are best practices that can save you a lot of time in the long run.
That’s the goal of this video and it’s one of the many reasons I highly recommend it for any web designers reading this.
4. Design & Prototype in XD
Web & mobile designer Dansky runs a pretty large YouTube channel with over 180k subscribers. He frequently puts out live streams of tutorials covering design & prototyping software.
This video is one such example totaling about 90 minutes released on his YouTube for repeat viewing.
It was recorded live and it’s meant to cover the entire prototyping phase for completing a full mockup and getting it ready for coding.
5. Wireframe in Adobe XD
Here’s another similar livestream video also totaling about 90 minutes long.
But in this tutorial Dansky teaches you how to wireframe layouts inside the Adobe XD software.
Wireframing is usually the very first step to any new design project. And there are many great tools for wireframing interfaces on the market, but XD can handle mockups as well making it a powerful program for the entire design process.
